Characterization of Bottom Ash, Fly Ash, and Filter Cake Produced from Hazardous Waste Incineration
نویسنده
چکیده
in this study, the chemical characterization of solid residues, i.e., bottom ash, fly ash, and filter cake, produced from the izmit hazardous and Clinical waste incineration Plant (izAyDAS) was investigated. the izAyDAS is located in the city of kocaeli in turkey and it has been in use since 1997. Several parameters were measured, including AoX, Cl-, CN-, So4 2and selected heavy metals including Pb, Cd, Cr(Vi), Cu, Ni, hg, As(iii), and zn. the results showed that although the temperature and furnace residence time inside the kiln are maintained for complete combustion, cold points and pyrolytic conditions may occur locally and cause the formation of products of incomplete combustion in bottom ash. Fly ash has the highest content of soluble metals among the solid residues investigated. The concentrations in leachates are generally low in filter cake. Moreover, it has been proven that the AoX levels are higher in the bottom ash than in both the fly ash and filter cake.

Integrating Zn Recovery from Fly Ashes into the Viennese Waste Incineration Cluster
In the city of Vienna approximately 1 Million ton of waste is incinerated annually. Therefore 13 lines of waste incineration including fluidized bed incinerators, rotary kilns and grate furnaces are in operation. Beside municipal solid waste, hazardous waste as well as communal sewage sludge is utilized. All incinerator lines use a wet flue gas cleaning system. Based on the determination of the...

Waste incineration still seems to be an essential technology in the concept of integrated waste management. However, the desirable quantity of waste incineration residue needs to be as low as possible. Therefore, related optimization of two-stage waste incineration technology has been performed with the main goal of producing lower amounts of boiler ash, fly ash and flue gas-treatment residue, ...

Resource recovery plants with a waste presorting process prior to incineration have not been successfully implemented in many developing countries. At least two engineering projects were fully assessed in Taiwan for the possible installation of presorting facilities in order to increase the potential efficiency of material and energy recovery for municipal incinerators. But the reuse potential ...

In the combustion facilities, halogens (Cl, F, Br, I) should be considered with regard to the control of the compounds such as polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDD), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDF), halogenated polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and volatile heavy metals formed as a result of incomplete combustion and caused adverse environmental effects. In t...
متن کاملEnvironmental Management of Fly Ash Produced from the Incineration of Municipal Solid Waste
Incineration is a widely used and well established technology for the municipal solid waste (MSW) management. Modern MSW incineration plants are equipped with improved air pollution control (APC) systems, which reduce pollutants well below the established limits. The environmental concern has, thus, moved from the air emissions to the solid residues generated from the APC systems of the inciner...
